FAQ: How can I pay for my investments?
You can use "cash" (meaning cheque, transfer of funds by internet, bill payment etc) for all funds. Most funds allow you to use SRS, and many allow you to pay using CPF savings. Do not pay until you have placed your order. After you have placed your order, payments instructions will be emailed to you (under "Next Steps" of your order form). Money sent without any corresponding order will not be invested and may cause delays for order matching. Such money could be creditted to your cash account or refunded.

Importantly, for all trades the deal date is based on the time your payment reaches the custodian, not the time you place the order.

Please note that the following incurs charges of SGD25 per payment handling:

  • insufficient funds - eg: bounced cheques, bounced deductions from CPF or GIRO
  • unidentified or mismatched funds, typically because you did not indicate the Navigator plan number (starting with "N") in your transfer or on your cheque
  • request to return balance due to your overpayment
Invest orders for which no payment is made within 21 calendar days will be cancelled. You will need to submit a new order if you still intend to invest.

The summary above reflects how you may pay for an investment done through dollarDEX, and does not necessarily reflect the full extent of these banks' services in general. Details correct to the best of our knowledge. Note for all cash payments for investments done via dollarDEX be aware you are not paying dollarDEX Investments!

Please check with your bank to verify services, fees, limits and transfer times. If your transfer limit is $5,000 per day (for example) and you want to pay $10,000 it is acceptable to make two (or more) transfers. Many transfers take at least 1 working day to reach the custodian, and sometimes longer.

You may pay for RSPs (Regular Savings Plans) using CPFIS-OA, CPFIS-SA, SRS, and GIRO. You cannot pay for RSPs using other methods such as cheque or internet banking.

Details by method

Cheque.

Cheques should be payable to Navigator Trust Account. Clients should write the Navigator Investment Plan Account number (i.e. in format N9999999 displayed during purchase and in the confirmation email), client's name and NRIC number on the back of the cheque. Cheques should be sent to:

Navigator Trust Account
4 Shenton Way
SGX Centre 2 #01-01
Singapore 068807

Cheques may be handed in person to the reception at the above address from 8.45 am to 5.30 pm, Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays. There is a cheque deposit box placed at the side entrance (please enter from lift lobby entrance) of the Customer Service Centre in which you may drop your cheque outside office hours, for Navigator's processing on the next working day.

Cheques received by Navigator via post or handed to the reception at the above address before 10.30am on a working day will be processed on the same day, subject to a single day maximum of S$100,000 per client. This uncleared basis is not guaranteed and may not be applied for any reason determined by dollarDEX or Navigator. So for example, any subscription of an amount greater than S$100,000 per day per client will be processed on a cleared basis.

Internet banking: DBS Bill Payment.

Bill payment is available under DBS Internet Banking (click for example screen), with no limit on daily transfer amount. Select Navigator Trust Account and key in the reference field, the Navigator Investment Plan Account number (format N9999999). If you do not yet have a Plan Account number use the first letter of your NRIC followed by 7 digits and omit the final character (format S1234567). Note Bill Payment is not instant and could take at least 1 working day to reach the custodian.

Important: if you don't enter your Navigator Investment Plan Account as a reference number with 3rd-party transfers there is a high chance your payment will not be identified. dollarDEX and Navigator cannot backdate trades because of unidentified payment, nor is any interest paid on unidentified payments.

Internet banking: 3rd-party transfers.

3rd-party transfers are available from most banks including DBS, OCBC, UOB, Citibank. DBS transfers usually take 1-2 working days, other banks usually take 2-4 working days to reach the custodian. If you've previously used DBS Internet Banking with 3rd-party transfer for payments to dollarDEX prior to 3 June 2006, it will now send payment to the incorrect account. Please delete that old payee in your list to prevent wrong payments.

With 3rd-party transfers typically the only place to enter the reference number (Navigator Investment Plan Account number in format N9999999) is when you first set up the payee. For DBS this will be a prompt for "Your initials", under OCBC it's "Your initials" and under UOB it's "How you want payer's name to appear in 3rd party statement". For Citibank you enter the reference number each time you pay, in the "Message" field. If you are asked for the account name please use "Navigator Trust Account". Above is correct to the best of our knowledge but the banks could change this without notice to us.

For subsequent payments the bank's system by default will use this same reference number, and you won't be able to see this or change it subsequently without deleting and re-creating the payee. For banks where reference numbers is done when setting up payee you may need to create multiple payees if you have multiple cash accounts at dollarDEX.

Please transfer the funds to DBS Current Account No. 003-900931-3. The format below may also be used if it is required:

Bank Code: 7171 Branch Code: 003
To Account: 0039009313

You should indicate the payment type as 3rd party internet transfer when you invest at dollarDEX.com.

Important: if you don't enter your Navigator Investment Plan Account as a reference number with 3rd-party transfers there is a high chance your payment will not be identified. dollarDEX and Navigator cannot backdate trades because of unidentified payment, nor is any interest paid on unidentified payments.

Those paying from a Citibank account may like to set up a payee as follows:

Payee Nickname: NAVIGATOR
Payee Name: NAVIGATOR TRUST ACCOUNT
Bank Route Code: 7214-001
Bank: CITIBANK, N.A.
Account Number: 0850570019
Payment Method: Paid electronically

Enter the reference number e.g N12345678 each time you pay, in the "Message" field, not when you set up the payee.
